Series created for XX / XY Zine .
My series explores the juxtaposition of the female role within the catholic church and how religious artifacts have repeatedly been featured in fashion designed for women. Observing the roles of both the immaculate & submissive saint and the beguiling & daring temptress, the images are contrasted with symbolicimagery and images of rural Austrian traditions. The landscape and pagan rituals clash with the religious subtext and challenge how the church has appropriated native tradition to establish its power within the local community.
